chicken flavored cat treats

For those of you cat lovers who felt slighted when I posted a dog biscuit recipe, today is your lucky day! Jerri of Simply Sweet Home is here to share with us how to make a delectable kitty treat.

You may recall Jerri's guest post in my September Back to School Month series when she shared with us her recipe for chocolate peanut butter cereal bars:

Take it away, Jerri!

Hello Meremade readers!  My name is Jerri, and I'm from the blog Simply Sweet Home. I was really excited when Jennifer invited me to be a part of her pet event this month! My blog features recipes, product reviews and giveaways, as well as home decor and basically anything that can help make your home a "simply sweet" home.  I also host a linky party called Friday Favorites where I invite you to link up your own recipes and projects.

Over at Simply Sweet Home, we have two resident cats named Rebel and Dixie. I've had them now for almost 4 years and they basically rule my world. (I just live here.)  Since Rebel and Dixie love cat treats, they decided it would be a great idea to make some homemade treats to share for Pet Month!

Recipe for Chicken Flavored Cat Treats

1 1/2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/3 cup corn meal
1 tablespoon margarine

Directions: Combine chicken, broth,  and margarine. Add flour and cornmeal. Knead into dough ball.  Pinch off small pieces.  Roll into balls and then flatten into cookies (about nickel to quarter sized). Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Note - We made an entire sheet of cookies and refrigerated the rest of the dough, so you may want to cut this recipe in half.

Thanks so much to Jennifer for having me on as a guest today! I hope everyone will stop by and see me over at Simply Sweet Home!
