Shabu-Shabu anyone?

My husband and I were able to get away for an hour last weekend by ourselves for a quick lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. We headed straight for Sawtelle Avenue, home to an amazing array of Japanese Cuisine, and made a beeline straight for our favorite Shabu-Shabu place.

For those of you that have never experienced the magic of Shabu-Shabu: it’s basically a Japanese version of hot pot. The food is brought to you raw and then you cook it yourself in a pot of boiling water.

We ordered a plate of organic vegetables including Chinese cabbage, shiso leaves, nori (seaweed), onions, chard, carrots and mushrooms. So beautiful and bountiful!

And a plate of 100% organic, grass fed wagyu beef.

Each order comes with a plate of brown rice, tofu and soba or udon noodles and dipping sauces (we like our ponzu hot!)

Shabu-Shabu is fast and fun and for someone like me who likes to keep busy, it's a perfect fit!

The only benefit to not getting out too often is that we have really learned to appreciate a nice, quiet meal!
